# Governance token $ALFA

$ALFA token exhibits a number of important modalities that make it particularly well suited to serve as a governance instrument:

* As the governance token of AdaLand $ALFA is expected to rise in price as increasing value is being accrued on our protocol and community
* In addition $ALFA tokens will be able to serve a similar function as investments in REITs, thus allowing invested stakeholders of AdaLand to accrue dividends 
* $ALFA token is going to be distributed according to the distribution schedule outlined in our whitepaper
* Total supply of $ALFA is capped at 100,000,000 tokens, allowing for favorable tokenomics and a steady price increase as AdaLand's value proposition rises in popularity
